THIS ISN’T JUST ABOUT GUN CONTROL

It’s about power.

I have seen it across the board in the political arena.

You’ve heard the saying “follow the money.”

Politicians play a calculated game that is far more concerned with acquiring and maintaining power than it is to truly serve and steward change.

Compromising of integrity, duplicitous behavior, and just a general willingness to sell your constituents down the river is excused as business as usual and how the sausage gets made.

If it’s not taking the campaign donations directly, it’s choosing to not “piss them off.” It’s a commonplace practice to rationalize maintaining power and “what can be done” over fighting for effective, quantitative change.

BTW, this goes for Democrats and Republicans, alike.

And this is why we haven’t experienced real gun control. It’s why Colorado is being fracked to hell despite children being harmed and the looming climate crisis. It’s why our healthcare system is failing us and why we can’t pay folks a livable wage.

It’s abhorrent, insidious and a SYSTEMIC problem that I don’t know how to address without a serious moral and spiritual awakening in this country.

And also money out of politics.

What compromises are you willing to make to maintain power or even the allusion of safety in your life?
